Remembering a Young Man Sold Out for Christ

The Everett Washington Sonrise Chapel King's Kids Go Network Team "Airo" had just finished their bootcamp and day one of their outreach in the local area on Monday when they went to a local pool to swim and shower. The soccer camp outreach was in one of the neediest areas of the city and was geared to build relationships with the local people, train the children in soccer and share the Gospel.

While at the pool, Christian Moen, the leaders' 20 year old son, drowned. However, as the story unfolded, it was clearly God's Hand reaching out and calling him to Himself! All are finding great comfort in the knowledge of that.

The local city paper carried this story.

Amazingly enough, another local Go Network team had arrived at the pool after a long day of outreach nearby and was there to comfort and pray for the Sonrise Chapel team.

After receiving the news that evening while gathered at the church, the team unanimously decided after prayer that the outreach must go on - for Christian and for Jesus! With great passion, energy, and perseverance emotionally and physically, the team pressed on throughout the week. The result: over 3/4 of the children attending the camp made commitments to Christ.

On Saturday evening, Christian had preached at their boot camp with a message on laying down your life for Christ.
On Monday afternoon he went to be with Jesus.

At the service for Christian on Saturday, the children presented two songs in tribute to him, along with another one written and sung by several of the younger members of the team.

We honor these young people and families for their example of finishing the race and laying down their lives for Jesus.

And we honor the Moen family and Christian in their example of loving Jesus!

"Although it feels as if Christian'f life was cut short, he left this world excelling in his highest calling - to be a lover of Jesus. The calling to be a world changer was secondary. The secondary calling is temporary, but the first calling is eternal and therefore, he is still living out his destiny.......His name was prophetic...Christian was marked fromt he day of his birth, and he lived a life worthy of his name."
